![]() ![]() Less successful was the intense glare produced at different times along the way, something we worked hard at avoiding in the earlier downtown stations. The lighting in the station also functions as a directional device, the chartreuse linear light boxes essentially drawing a line for you to follow through the station. All of this is necessary infrastructure but it’s also a lot to contend with visually. In this view, the escalator vanishes up into a large, structured space full of beams, pipes and wires. Given that the ride to downtown 5 miles away takes only 8 minutes, this is going to be a very well-used mode for people to and from the university.īoth of the stations utilize heroic structures to keep the spaces open because they are so far below the ground. After that we rode part way back to the Capitol Hill Station. I should point out that, considering that this station has been open less than a week and that we were riding mid-day on a Monday, the system was heavily used. ![]() For this particular ride we chose to go to the current end of the line, the University of Washington campus, near the Husky Stadium football field. ![]()
